Web Site FAQ

Can you help me, when I am located outside of Texas or even outside of the United States?
Yes. The Internet is a global community and we can, and do, provide our services throughout the world. We make it easy, whether you are domiciled in Rhode Island, Great Britain or just next door.

Do you consider page loading time, when you design a page or site?
Yes. You can have the most beautiful page or site on the Internet, but it will be useless if no one waits for it to load. We utilize color techniques, compression and several other techniques and technological exploits to minimize load time. We strive for all pages to be 40k or less (text and graphics) and for no single graphic to exceed 10k.

Who owns the copyright to the page or site you design for me?
U.S. Copyright law requires there to be a written statement, to transfer the copyright ownership from the author/creator to another. In doing so, we could not use any portion of our creation for any other purpose and that would severely limited our continued viability. Therefore, provide our clients with a perpetual, non-cancelable license, upon completion of the project and full payment of all fees due us.

Does your Company's name and logo have to appear on the pages you design for me?
No. We like to put our name on the site, so others can easily determine who designed and built the page or site. When clients include a "credits" or "colophon" page in their site, we like to be listed there, as well. This is solely to the discretion of our client and it won't affect the amount of our fee, regardless of the decision.

How do I know that you won't just take my money and never deliver my page or site?
Just check us out with the Dallas Better Business Bureau, the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and the Consumer Division of the Texas Attorney General's Office. Our records are completely clean, because we are for real. Moreover, we've been in business since 1995 and we're in the business of building long term and mutually beneficial business relationships. We are a professional, full service, Internet services firm, which is in the business for the long term.

I see that you support Microsoft BackOffice products. Does that mean that my pages will be designed with only Internet Explorer in mind?
No. You should have also noticed that our site could be viewed by your Netscape, or other brand of, browser, too. Our designs consider all the major browsers, as well as their legacy versions.

How long will it take you to complete my pages?
In general, you should expect delivery of any of the special package web sites within seven days or less. For custom designed sites, we include the anticipated completion time in the quotation which we provide to you.

Do we need to sign a contract or get lawyers involved to use your design services?
No. We tried to make doing business with us very easy and simple. When you place your order for a special package web site or accept our quotation to supply a custom designed site, you agree to our terms of use and our acceptable conduct policies.

What are the mechanics of your design process?
In general, there are eight steps:

  1. Definition Development: You send us your literature, brochures, logos and any other information which will assist in defining your desires, needs and objectives. Many times, our clients provide a very general sketch of the site they have in mind, which is very helpful. This information is the basis for our definition of your particular needs.

  2. Visual Concept Design: We sketch out each page, so the entire site has a common look and feel. This is when we determine how the site will tie together and what graphic elements, buttons and bars will be used.

  3. Content Concept Design: Many clients have already prepared text, they wish to use to deliver their message. Often, the text from existing advertising brochures are quite applicable. Other times, we create the text, based upon the information developed in step number 1. This phase determines what copy will appear on which page.

  4. Development: After you have approved the results of the foregoing steps, we begin to actually build the page or site, including scanning or creating the necessary graphics. The previous steps allow the development process to be very fast and efficient.

  5. Testing: We test each page with special software, to make sure that the HTML is fully compliant with current standards, that all links work correctly and that each page loads within our accepted standard. We then test each page with the major browsers. We also test any scripts, which were created for the page or site.

  6. Delivery, More Testing & Implementation: We upload the completed page or site to the hosting server. We again test each page with the major browsers, including the functioning of any scripts.

  7. Promotion: During step 1, we determined the keywords most applicable to your site and other information, which would help with your site's visibility. During the development process, META tags and descriptions were included in each page, to also facilitate visibility to the search engines, crawlers, robots and spiders. We will now submit you site or page for registration to hundreds of search engines, newsgroups, link listings and directories, and e-mail to you a comprehensive report indicating all the listings we promoted and secured, along with the particulars of the promotion. See the Promotion FAQ

  8. for additional information.

  9. Maintenance: Our special web site packages include changes for one year. We will make a changes to the site, not exceeding 1 hour times the number of pages in the package, during the first year. For custom sites, and after our obligation is fulfilled for special package sites, we can provide additional maintenance services on a fixed or variable fee basis.

Can you provide "dynamic content?"
Yes. "Dynamic content" is a buzz word which basically means a web page or part of a web page which is built "on the fly." For instance, if you were presented with a page on which you could request all of the golf tournaments in Dallas to be contested next Tuesday, it is probable that the result page was built "dynamically" and that a database was involved. It is less likely, although possible, that someone had built a static web page to display this type of frequently changing information. In short, if it has been done, or can be done, on the Internet, chances are that we have already done it or that we have the capabilities to do it. Just ask.

How will people find my web site?
Your pages must be built properly and they must be registered in various search engines, directories and link lists, in order to have maximum exposure to the world. When we design a site, we carefully consider how to best maximize it's visibility to the search engines, crawlers, spiders and robots. See the Promotion FAQ, for additional information.
