Electronic Email FAQ
E-mail addresses usually reference the ISP, eg. you@yourisp.com, when you access the Internet through an Internet Service Provider. The address may be assigned by the ISP or the desired address may be unavailable, eg. 9374x5z2@yourisp.com instead of you@yourisp.com. It is also necessary to notify everyone of your new e-mail address, whenever you change your ISP.
Domain Name: Your e-mail address should always reference your domain name, to increase name recognition and promote traffic to your web site, eg. you@yourdomain.com. A domain name is also beneficial, even if you don't have a web site, because it is transportable and your e-mail address remains unchanged, regardless of how many times you change your ISP.
E-mail Aliase: An alias is a fake e-mail address, which is redirected behind the scenes to a real one. For instance, suppose you have one e-mail address of You@yourISP.com, where you check your mail. You could also have e-mail aliases of sales@yourDomain.com, support@yourDomain.com and service@yourDomain.com, which were all redirected, behind the scenes, to your real mail box of You@yourISP.com. This way you can have multiple e-mail addresses, but still check your mail in just one place. This also makes your e-mail address transportable. That is, if you ever change your ISP, your e-mail addresses (aliases) will remain unchanged. They will just need to be directed behind the scenes to your new, real e-mail address.
We provide these advantages, when we host a web site. We can also provide these advantages to those who do not have a web site or even a registered domain name. Registering a domain name and our sponsorship (parking page & e-mail forwarding) of the domain is inexpensive.
The following illustrates how it works.

The key is to not publish the e-mail address provided by your ISP, (represented by the light blue line) and always use your own, transportable e-mail address, (you@yourdomain.com, you2@yourdomain.com, etc.).

Another advantage is that we automatically block junk mail, from the widely known bulk mailers, saving you time and aggravation.
Autoresponders: An autoresponder is an e-mail service which automatically responds to the receipt of e-mail, by sending an e-mail, or a file attached to an e-mail, in reply. For instance, you may wish to send a special report, but only when it is requested by e-mail. The requesting party only needs to send an e-mail to the e-mail address of the autoresponder, in order for that document to be sent to him automatically. The autoresponder text is a plain text file, which resides in your web directory. |
